Clerking at J.J. Conway Law has been one of the most valuable experiences of my legal journey. From my first day, I was trusted with substantive legal work that allowed me to contribute to real cases involving employee benefits, disability claims, and insurance disputes. I’ve conducted legal research, drafted memoranda, demand letters, appeals, and insurance claims while learning from and working alongside J.J. Conway and Paula Cardwell.
What has stood out to me most is the human side of this work. Behind every file is someone facing a difficult situation, often after having legitimate benefits denied or being treated unfairly by an insurance provider. Having the opportunity to help advocate for those individuals has shown me the real impact lawyers can have on people’s lives. Knowing that my work contributes to helping clients obtain the benefits they are entitled to has made this experience especially meaningful.
Balancing this clerkship while pursuing my Dual JD has also been a unique part of my journey. Commuting across the border while studying both Canadian and American law has challenged me to become more organized, adaptable, and disciplined. Combining practical experience with a cross-border legal education has accelerated my growth as a law student and reinforced my passion for advocacy. Every assignment has been an opportunity to learn, take on new challenges, and continue developing the skills I will carry into my legal career. I am grateful for the trust, mentorship, and experience I have gained at J.J. Conway Law.
